Time to get ready for Feed 5000, 2012!
It’s time for Project: Feed 5000!!!
We invite your congregation to join Epworth United Methodist Church in participating in Project: Feed 5000 this spring! Feed 5000 is inspired by Jesus’ feeding of 5000, found in Matthew 14:13-21.This project is designed to help feed many of the hungry families in the Toledo area who need our help. Our goal, together with your help, is to fill 1250 boxes of food designed to feed a family of four for two days.
The project started on Monday, March 19. Feed 5000 boxes will be available in the Family Life Center at Epworth United Methodist Church on 3077 Valleyview Dr. ( across from Wildwood Metro park on Central Ave.) for taking to your congregations. Please call the church office at 419-531-4236 between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday and stop by the main church office to let us know how many boxes you are taking and to list a contact person from your church. If your church would like some boxes, but has difficulty getting to Epworth to pick them up, please let us know and we may have some volunteers who could bring them to your church.
Starting Sunday, March 25, and April 1 & 8, boxes will be handed out to Epworth parishioners along with the two page handout detailing instructions and food list. On Sundays, April 15, 22, & 29 we will be collecting the filled boxes at Epworth. From there, the boxes will be delivered to Feed Your Neighbor and split between the thirteen Feed Your Neighbor pantries.
Churches are welcome to bring their boxes to Epworth on those dates, or arrange pick-up with Donnajean Stockmaster of Feed Your Neighbor.
The two page handout detailing exactly what food items to put in the box is available by e-mail so you can copy as needed. Each box should contain 18 items as specified on the shopping list. The types of items can vary, i.e., peaches, pears, etc., while keeping in the same food group.
Please contact Susan Kanwal, Chair, Project: Feed 5000 at Epworth at Feed5000@epworth.com or 419-841-4877 or Donnajean Stockmaster of Feed Your Neighbor at dstockmaster@tamohio.org or call 419-242-7401 x145 with questions.
We look forward to your participation!
